Flip a coin between Notre Dame’s Charlie Weis and Louisville’s Steve Kragthorpe, whose teams are coming off terribly disappointing 2007 seasons. Weis is trying to avoid becoming the first coach in Notre Dame history to endure consecutive losing seasons. Louisville was expecting to contend for a national championship but flopped to a 6-6 finish and no bowl appearance. Perhaps preceding Louisville coach Bobby Petrino left Kragthorpe an overrated team with issues on defense. But if significant improvement isn’t shown in 2008, the Louisville fan base may not have much patience. ~~~~
Well if that isnt wonderful to hear on the first day of February. I’m not disagreeing, but it just sucks to hear a professional say it.
I worry about Steve alot more than Charlie. For one, Notre Dame’s recruiting class is number 1 in the nation(again), and Charlie said after the season that old friend Bill Belichick was going to come in and help him fix the team. The same Bill Belichick that is coaching in his 4th Super Bowl in 7 years on Sunday. You may have heard of him.
As far as Kragthorpe goes, how many times did Brohm bail Kragthorpe out in 2007?? Lets see, we were 6-6 so….6 times. Brian Brohm is not walking through that door. I couldn’t be more happy with the new and MUCH IMPROVED coaching staff thou. The addition that excites me most is former Michigan defensive coordinator Ron English. English is highly respected in the college football world and was even voted Rivals.com Defensive Coordinator of the Year in 2006. There is no doubt that English is good, but the difference in talent level might be hard on him in 2008. Imagine a college professor who teaches Quantum Physics leaving his job to go teach Special Ed at a high school, that’s kind-of what Ron English has on his hands here.
